Hypnotherapy

About Hypnotherapy:

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis in a clinical setting. The term hypnosis comes from Greek word Hypnos which means ‘sleep’. Hypnotherapists use exercises that bring about deep relaxations and an altered state of consciousness, a state that is also called trance. This, however, does not mean that the hypnotherapist can control person’s free will and mind.

In simple words, consider alternative states of mind like

  • When your thoughts are occupied with what is going on, that is, you are aware of what you are thinking, and
  • When you are thinking but you are not consciously aware of what you are thinking. It is in this state in which decisions are made which affect your beliefs and emotions.
  • Hypnotherapy is a simple way of supporting you to make the right beliefs and release those which do not serving you. The technique can actually teach people how to master their own state of awareness.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

When something happens to us, we remember it and learn a particular behavioural response to what happened. Each time something similar happens, our physical and emotional responses attached to the memory are repeated. In hypnotherapy, the hypnotherapist guides you to recall the event, which led to the first reaction, separate the incident from the learned behaviour, and replace the behaviour with a new, healthier one by way of a positive suggestion.

During the state of trance, there is a change in brainwave activity. The brain waves slow down, thereby relaxing the body, through mentally you are fully awake. Your conscious mind becomes less alert your subconscious becomes more focused and highly responsive to positive suggestions being given by the therapist to bring the shift in the now.
